Portview helps shape a new vision for the Newtownards Road
Portview contributed to the wider regeneration conversation behind Our Vision for Newtownards Road 2030, a five-year plan for the East Belfast corridor.

Portview has played a part in the wider regeneration conversation behind Our Vision for Newtownards Road 2030, a five-year plan for creating a more vibrant, connected and welcoming Newtownards Road.
Led by EastSide Partnership, the plan was developed through a Local Action Group bringing together community organisations, public bodies, local businesses, residents and elected representatives. Its aim is to support the Newtownards Road as both an important gateway into Belfast city centre and a destination in its own right.
The plan recognises the investment and change already taking place along the corridor, including developments such as Skainos, C.S. Lewis Square, Pitt Park and Portview, while also identifying continuing challenges around vacancy, dereliction, traffic and underused sites.
For Portview, involvement in this wider place-based work reflects an important principle: the future of the former Strand Spinning Mill is closely connected to the future of the neighbourhood around it.
Investment in the mill can create space for businesses, employment, learning and visitors, but its impact is stronger when it forms part of a wider effort to improve the Newtownards Road and East Belfast as a place to live, work, visit and invest.
