East Block Bazaar grows at Portview

East Block Bazaar developed into a regular Portview marketplace, giving independent traders a platform and bringing new audiences into Banana Block.

East Block Bazaar, a monthly market produced with Little Fox Events, has become an important part of Portview’s public-facing life, bringing independent makers, food businesses, artists, vintage sellers and other traders together inside Banana Block.

By late 2023, the market had built a significant following and was attracting attention beyond East Belfast. Contemporary coverage highlighted both its popularity and its role as a platform for independent businesses to test ideas, meet customers and build an audience.

That matters because the impact of a market extends beyond the event itself. Traders gain access to affordable, flexible selling space; visitors discover businesses they may not otherwise encounter; and the wider site benefits from additional footfall and activity.

For Portview, the Bazaar demonstrates how previously vacant space can support enterprise at different scales — from established tenants to people testing a business for the first time — while also helping make the former mill a destination for the wider public.
