Boom Clap Play brings creative Art Clubs to Portview
Children explored character design, printmaking, life drawing and sensory play through three creative Art Clubs held at Portview with Boom Clap Play and PlayBoard NI.

In 2025, Portview became a setting for three creative Art Clubs delivered through a collaboration involving tenant Boom Clap Play and PlayBoard NI.
The open-ended workshops were designed for children aged four to eleven and featured a different local artist each week. Children were introduced to the artist’s work before being encouraged to respond through their own creative activity.
Across the sessions, participants designed characters, experimented with printmaking and a printing press, explored patterned life drawing and used sensory materials to make and play.
The emphasis was not on producing a perfect finished object. Instead, the sessions focused on curiosity, playful making, creative confidence and giving children the freedom to explore their own ideas.
The Art Clubs formed part of wider work by Boom Clap Play and PlayBoard around co-design and meaningful creative experiences for young audiences, including children from under-served communities.
For Portview, activities such as these broaden the meaning of learning on the site. Alongside formal skills and employment programmes, the building can also provide room for creativity, experimentation and experiences that introduce children and young people to new ways of thinking and making.
